Brit Mitzvah

Becoming a bar/bat/brit mitzvah is a momentous occasion in a Jewish child’s journey to adulthood. At Temple Beth-El, we strive to make that journey a transformational experience for every child and every family. Through our brit mitzvah process, children grow intellectually and spiritually as they engage in Torah study. They come to further embrace their Jewish identity as they continue their Jewish education and explore their Jewish heritage. And they discover that they each have the ability to impact the world through their commitment to mitzvot.

Our clergy look forward to working intimately with your family to make the brit mitzvah experience meaningful and personalized to your child. Rabbi Gluck will host a series of meetings with your family to discuss the significance of brit mitzvah in Jewish tradition and to guide your child in finding meaning in his/her Torah portion. Cantor Wallach and one of our exceptional brit mitzvah tutors will meet one-on-one with your child to study his/her haftarah portion and to teach your child to chant both Torah and haftarah.

At Temple Beth-El, we appreciate that your child’s brit mitzvah is an affirmation of your family’s commitment to the Jewish community. As such, our synagogue community – from our clergy to our congregants – is here to support you and celebrate with you as your child reaches this milestone in Jewish life.
