Adult Learning

At Temple Beth-El, we believe learning doesn’t end when you age out of religious school. We believe it’s a life-long process that nourishes the mind, the heart, and the soul, so we offer a host of adult education opportunities that connect us more deeply with our Judaism and with each other.

Our adult education offerings are part of a broader program called Jewish LIFE (Learning Is For Everyone), an adult education consortium in our area. Through Jewish LIFE, we can offer our members a depth and breadth of programming that no individual congregation would be able to provide on its own. Members of Temple Beth-El have the opportunity to learn and be enriched each year through a wide variety of guest lecturers and special events, as well as courses that are taught at participating synagogues in Bible, Hebrew, history, ethics, Jewish living, Rabbinics, Israel, and more. Check back soon for a listing of our adult education classes and special guest speakers for the 2018-2019 programming year. In the past, Temple Beth-El has been host to top-notch speakers including Michael Oren, Knesset member and former Israeli Ambassador to the United States; Anat Hoffman, Executive Director of the Israel Religious Action Center and Director of Women of the Wall; and Yossi Klein, acclaimed journalist and author.

Our courses are taught by our inspiring clergy, dedicated senior staff, talented lay volunteers, and the occasional guest teacher. In addition to classes and lectures, Temple Beth-El offers cultural arts programming that includes Israeli dancing, a Jewish film series, and special musical events.

Learning at Temple Beth-El is a joyful, inspiring, and enriching journey. We warmly welcome learners at every level of knowledge to learn and grow with us. For more information about adult education and Jewish Life events, please contact Sarah Gluck.

“I have now taken a variety of adult classes with Rabbi Arnie and Sarah over the years. I am always grateful that I made the time to go, and I always learn more than I expected to learn. They have helped me grow both intellectually and spiritually. Their knowledge and passion for teaching is commendable, and I am truly grateful to have them as teachers.”
