Sisterhood

The women of the Sisterhood work together in a supportive environment, deriving personal fulfillment and spiritual growth as they endeavor to better the synagogue and the quality of life in our broader communities. The Sisterhood embraces traditional values while giving voice to modern Jewish women.

Membership in the Sisterhood offers a unique opportunity for women to share time with other women, form friendships, and explore Judaism from a woman’s perspective. The Sisterhood has been, and remains, critical to the temple’s many successes.

The Sisterhood offers a wide variety of activities and services, including:

  • Social gatherings and educational opportunities
  • Worship and Torah study
  • Programs on reflection and renewal
  • Community service projects (such as food drives, Purim baskets)
  • Judaica Shop/Chanukah Shop
  • An annual event honoring a congregant who has contributed greatly to the life of the community (Woman of Valor)
  • Joint events with Brotherhood and other temple organizations
  • Support of the synagogue’s youth with gifts to b’nei mitzvah and confirmation students, and contributions to the Israel Scholarship Fund

The Sisterhood is a proud member of Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ) and is “sisters” with a Sisterhood in Haifa, Israel.

It is the Sisterhood’s goal to have every woman at Temple Beth-El become a member and to share in its many enriching activities. Without you, the Sisterhood is one member short!
