At Temple Sholom, 594 North Bridge Street, Bridgewater.
At this year’s community Tikkun Liel Shavuot, we will welcome Yitzhak Sokoloff, Israeli political analyst, educator and founder of Keshet Educational Journeys. Yitzhak will speak on Israel at War: An Insider’s View of the Practical and Moral Challenges We Face.
TBE’s clergy will join with the clergy from Congregation Knesseth Israel, Congregation Kehilat Shalom, and Temple Sholom for a thoughtful conversation with Yitzhak about the challenges and dilemmas Israel currently faces on the battlefield, in the realm of diplomacy, and in the court of public opinion in the United States and Europe.
About our speaker: Yitzhak Sokoloff served in the Golani Brigade of the IDF and taught Political Science and Jewish Philosophy at the Hebrew University. He speaks widely on the dilemmas of contemporary Zionism and Israeli policy making, and has worked with the IDF to train its officers to act morally and legally in complex combat situations.
During the current conflict, he returned to active duty along the edge of Gaza. Under his leadership, Keshet has raised and distributed more than $650,000 to meet urgent needs not met by mainstream relief efforts.
