“When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not wrong him. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as one of your citizens; you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. (Leviticus 19:33-34)

Temple Beth-El has joined efforts with The Jewish Center’s Interfaith Refugee Resettlement Committee (TJC/IRRC) in Princeton www.princetonrefugee.org and Interfaith-RISE, based in Highland Park http://www.interfaithrise.org/, to help deliver resettlement services for Afghan refugees making their home in central New Jersey.  The call to help the stranger is real! It is now!

If you want to have direct contact with refugees, you will need to attend a training session and complete forms for a background check.  The Jewish Center’s Interfaith Refugee Resettlement Committee is holding training sessions on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, December 15 at 5:30 PM
  • Saturday, January 22 at 10:30 AM
  • Wednesday, January 26 at 5:30 PM
