“When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not wrong him. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as one of your citizens; you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. (Leviticus 19:33-34)
Our first two refugees, two brothers, have found housing and had their immediate needs met. More refugees are coming soon. The call to help the stranger is real! It is now!
On Sunday, November 14, at 4:00 p.m., we will hold an information / training session on Zoom so you can learn more about Temple Beth-El’s refugee resettlement initiative for anyone who was unable to attend the session on November 3. No experience necessary! No commitments asked! Come and learn to find out if this is something you want to do and how you can help!
When we have more details about the families we are going to serve, we will let you know about other ways you can help, such as purchasing food, cooking meals, donating clothes and housing supplies, fundraising activities, and making financial donations. We anticipate having many more Afghani refugees settle in our community, and the need will be great.
Register for the training session on November 14 or learn more about this important congregational initiative, email Ronnie Weyl at RefugeeResettlement@templebethelnj.org.
For more on the community-wide initiative, visit our two partner organizations: InterfaithRISE or The Jewish Center Interfaith Refugee Resettlement Committee.
