Looking Back / Looking Forward: A Visit with Afghan Refugees Rahim, Fahim, and Ibrahim, and a Conversation about TBE’s Refugee Resettlement activities in the year ahead

In August 2021, three extraordinary young men boarded US aircrafts to flee Afghanistan when the Taliban took control of Kabul.  Separated in refugee camps in Qatar and Spain and then army bases in Virginia and New Jersey, Rahim, Fahim, and Ibrahim reunited in Princeton and became clients of Interfaith-RISE, a refugee resettlement agency in Highland Park.  Our Temple Beth-El community heard about their urgent need for support and said, “Hineini.”  Here I am.

TBE’s refugee resettlement committee invites you to join us on Thursday, November 17,  7:30 – 8:30  p.m. to hear Rahim, Fahim and Ibrahim talk about their first year in the United States and the many ways our TBE community has supported their transition. The committee also will share information about new refugees arriving from Afghanistan, Ukraine, and other countries, and together as a community, we will envision what we want our TBE refugee resettlement initiative to look like in the year ahead.

Please RSVP at refugeeresettlement@templebethelnj.org and join us via Zoom.
