As part of our year-long celebration honoring Rabbi Arnie Gluck, TBE congregant, Rabbi Hirshel Jaffe will join us for a discussion of his new book Why Not Me? Searching for God When We Suffer, A Cancer Survivor’s Story of Family, Friendship, Humor, and Faith.

If you would like Rabbi Jaffe to inscribe his book for you, copies will be made available.

Rabbi Hirshel Jaffe is a spiritual speaker and counselor who has been called a “living hero” and who earned the nickname “The Marathon Rabbi” after running in the New York Marathon.

Rabbi Jaffe became world renown in 1980 after he visited and offered comfort to the 52 Americans being held in Iran during the hostage crisis. He later received the Presidential “Award of Courage” from Ronald Reagan in a White House Rose Garden ceremony.

Rabbi Jaffe is a five-time cancer survivor who chronicled his struggle with leukemia and spiritual triumph over despair in the book Why Me? Why Anyone? Engraved on his ID bracelet are the fighting words: NEVER GIVE UP!

Bring your breakfast or grab a bagel from the Cafe and join Rabbi Jaffe for what is sure to be a moving and inspirational conversation about faith and perseverance.
