Please join us for our 2nd Annual Day of Service! We will have many activities for hands and talents of all ages and abilities!

Service Projects at TBE

  • Blood Drive (more)
    • 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The need is constant; the gratification is instant. There is no substitute for blood. Donors provide the only supply of life-saving blood for those in need.
    • Register  to give blood using this link.

  • Garden Cleanup
    • Help spruce up TBE with planting and weeding. Bring gloves and tools.

  • Kitchen Prep for Pesach
    • Our Ritual Committee seeks volunteers to  clear our kitchen of chametz, and make our refrigerator, cabinets, and carts Pesach ready.
    • Contact Lisa Schatz (KitchenPrep@templebethelnj.org) from the Ritual Committee to help with this important mitzvah!
  • Library Organizing
    • Our library books have been reorganized and the sections need to be labeled. Help to make our library more user-friendly, shelve some books, and make new friends.

  • Review Repair Needs for Prayerbooks
    • Identify lost or torn pages that can be replaced in our Siddurim

  • Ladles of Love Tastings
    • Sample what our Ladles of Love team has to offer and learn how you can join and help! Questions? Contact Dana Shapiro and Rich Wolff ladlesoflove@templebethelnj.org

Creating at TBE

  • Toiletry Bags and Coloring Books for Agape House Residents – Hosted by the New Member Engagement Committee
    • These bags will provide needed toiletries and entertainment packed with love for families coping with housing insecurity.

  •  Cards
    • Get Well and Sympathy Cards to go with Ladles of Love deliveries (refuah shlemah)
    • Pesach cards for Holocaust survivors and shut-ins to go with Pesach deliveries
  • Elijah’s Promise Snack Bags
    • Assemble snack bags for clients of Elijah’s Promise Soup Kitchen in New Brunswick.  This is a fun, hands-on way to help ensure healthy snacks for those in need.

  • Pesach Bags for Holocaust Survivors & Low Income Seniors 
    • Assemble bags that will be delivered by Jewish Family Services to Holocaust Survivors & Low Income Seniors for Passover.

  • Homemade Snuffle Mats for SAVE Animal Shelter
  • Dry Soup Ingredient Jars
  • Fleece Blankets for HOME Guests
    • Provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to families who are unhoused with the gifts of new hand-knotted blankets

    • Temple Beth-El’s Green team welcomes you to bring the following hard-to-recycle items to Temple in the week leading up to and on our Day of Service on April 6: Batteries, styrofoam blocks, discarded pens, wire coat hangers, textiles, old media of any kind (VHS and audio tapes, CDs, DVDs), old cell phones and tablets, and other non-functioning consumer electronics. We know you hate to put these items in the trash!

  • New Children’s Books for Manville Library gifts to kids
    • Librarians will distribute books (pre-K through grade 2) to children who otherwise would not own books of their own

Community Activities

  • Grow-A-Row
    • TBE Volunteers will participate in a Community volunteer event with America’s Grow-a-Row tentatively on April 10. Help cut and plant potatoes, which produce hundreds of potatoes for those in need. Date and location:  April 10th from 9:00-12:00 at 150 Pittstown Rd, Pittstown, NJ 08867 Registration is required.

  • Singing at Laurel Circle – 100 Monroe St, Bridgewater
    • Join the choir in singing Pesach tunes to assisted living residents. Meet at 1:30 p.m., singing begins at 2:00 p.m..
