Guest Teacher Rabbi Ofek Meir

As part of our year-long celebration honoring Rabbi Arnie Gluck, Rabbi Ofek Meir will join us for Shabbat as a guest teacher. Rabbi Meir’s visit is the Ann and Leo Lieberman Scholar in Residence.

Rabbi Ofek Meir is the director and headmaster at the Leo Baeck Education Center in Haifa, Israel. The center comprises schools for children in preschool through grade 12, community outreach programs and a progressive synagogue. Prior to the position he now holds, Rabbi Meir served as principal of the Center’s elementary and middle schools, rabbinic assistant at the Ohel Avraham Synagogue, and the Community Center’s youth coordinator.

Rabbi Meir served as the director of the Israeli Rabbinical Program at Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in Jerusalem where he earned his MA in Jewish Education and his Rabbinic certification. Rabbi Meir also holds a musician’s degree in classical guitar from London’s Royal College of Music.
