As part of our year-long celebration honoring Rabbi Arnie Gluck, Reverend Dr. Charles Boyer will join us for Shabbat services as our guest darshan.

The Reverend Dr. Charles Franklin Boyer is pastor of Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Trenton, New Jersey, and the founder of Salvation and Social Justice, a non-partisan Black faith-rooted public policy organization. He is also a senior consultant to the Social Action Commission of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Dr. Boyer is a leading faith voice in New Jersey around racial justice issues. His advocacy has led to such statewide policy changes as the closure of youth prisons, restrictions on solitary confinement, voting rights restoration for the formerly incarcerated, the use racial impact analysis on policy proposals, and community reinvestment through cannabis taxes.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Boyer led the campaign to release more than eight-thousand people from New Jersey’s prisons, making it the largest singular decarceration event in state history.
