Free and fair elections are a cornerstone of democracy. However, for the duration of its history, the United States has been plagued by disenfranchisement and voter suppression. Voting rights continue to be under assault across the country.
The Religious Action Center (RAC) of the Reform Jewish Movement is working with local organizations around the country (like Temple Beth-El) to help combat disenfranchisement. RAC believes that everyone has a role to play in strengthening democracy, combatting voter suppression, and ensuring that every eligible American can show up as a voter in 2022 elections.
Members of our temple community are working together to support the national campaign called Every Voice Every Vote. Congregants are reaching out to marginalized people in states with a history of voter suppression laws. You are invited to join this postcard writing campaign. Everything you need to participate will be provided to you.
If you would like to get involved, or have questions about this project, please contact Irene Lieberman.
And plan to come to the temple on Wednesday evening, July 20 at 7:00 to work on the postcards and learn more about RAC’s Every Voice Every Vote project. Please join this effort if you would like to be a part of healing the world – Tikkun Olam.
