TBE’s Refugee Resettlement Committee is holding an in-person meeting to drill down on the action steps our seven teams will take to ensure the immigrant families we’ve been working with over the past four years are safe if an immigration crisis arises. The teams include:
- Emergency Response – to develop a plan with the families to determine who alert if alert if someone is detained
- Legal Support – to find immigration attorneys who can provide services if needed and to help the families complete forms in advance
- Family Support – to assist families to get their documents, accounts, medical information, and plans for the children in order; train them on their rights; and assist the families if a detention occurs
- Work & School Support – to be the point of contact with employers and schools and maintain all necessary communication with them
- Legislative Outreach – to involve elected officials in raising awareness and helping gain release
- Media Outreach – to raise public awareness and promote advocacy
- Coordination – to organize and oversee the teams
